Oretimehin Kehinde Solomon, a celebrated musician and composer, is renowned for his expertise in songwriting, arranging, and music education. His musical journey began in the Deeper Life Church choir under Dr. Albert Oikelomen. After earning a scholarship to study Voice at the prestigious MUSON School of Music, sponsored by the MTN Foundation, he graduated as the best scholar and received the "Practical Musicianship" award for his exceptional talent in performance, composition, and instruction. Trained by esteemed educators such as Mrs. Marion Akpata, Mrs. Edna Soyannwo, and Sir Emeka Nwokedi, Kenny honed his skills in piano, orchestral conducting, harmony, and composition. His career spans over two decades, transitioning from music education to becoming a leading force in West African theatre, serving as Music Director, Vocal Coach, and Composer for productions with notable companies such as Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions. Kenny’s brilliance is showcased in Ije the Musical, where he composed and arranged the music that serves as the emotional and cultural backbone of the production. Intrigued by the depth of Ije’s story, Kenny was inspired to bring its themes to life through music, creating a powerful blend of traditional African sounds and modern theatrical elements. He expressed his excitement to be part of the production, describing it as a fulfilling opportunity to contribute to a work that celebrates heritage and storytelling through the universal language of music. His impressive portfolio includes acclaimed productions such as Saro, Wakaa, Fela and the Kalakuta Queens, Moremi the Musical, Olurombi the Musical, and Igbeyawo the Musical, which he also wrote and directed. His compositions have been performed at major recitals, orchestral concerts, and theatrical productions across the globe. Kenny’s thought leadership in music extends to his work as a columnist for The GuardianLife Magazine, where he anchored “The Music Doctor.” Kehinde continues to be a driving force in Nigerian music and theatre, crafting compositions that elevate productions and captivate audiences.
