OLUMENSE
“MavRYK” OMONJAHIO
WRITER & DIRECTOR - IJE THE MUSICAL

Olumense “MavRYK” Omonjahio is a Nigerian-born filmmaker, writer, and director based in Los Angeles, whose work explores identity, culture, migration, spirituality, love, and the complexities of the African experience at home and across the diaspora. With a background in filmmaking and screenwriting from the New York Film Academy and continued studies in Cinema at Los Angeles City College, MavRYK approaches storytelling with a distinctly cinematic eye combining emotionally grounded performances with striking imagery, music, and culturally authentic narratives. As the writer and director of IJE The Musical, MavRYK brings together his passion for cinema and live theatre to tell a deeply human story rooted in Nigerian culture. His vision for IJE is to create more than a stage production: it is an immersive journey through heritage, sacrifice, resilience, family, and the choices that shape generations. His growing body of work spans film, theatre, and narrative storytelling, with projects including Arabida, Atunmarilalka, Strange Woman, and Diary of an Olokun Woman. Across each project, MavRYK is drawn to stories about ordinary people confronting extraordinary emotional, cultural, and spiritual circumstances. Through IJE The Musical, he continues his commitment to bringing African stories to global audiences with authenticity, ambition, and a voice unmistakably rooted in where he comes from.
